During the press conference of last November 9th in Bercy, the French University Sport Federation announced the selection of the French University team which will throw in her title to the Master’U BNP Paribas 2011 in Rouen to 8th – 11th December:

Yesterday, Maxime Quinqueneau announces his withdrawal for the competition. He will be substituted by Elie Rousset, winner of the edition 2010 with the French team, current n°50 French ranking and n° 570 in the ATP ranking.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., November 17, 2011 –L’USTA a annoncé aujourd’hui la sélection des meilleurs joueurs de tennis universitaire qui représentera les Etats Unis d’Amériques lors de la 6e édition du Master’U BNP Paribas, l’évènement mondial du tennis universitaire à Rouen du 8 au 11 décembre. Cet évènement oppose 8 sélections nationales universitaires du monde entier.

Les Etats-Unis vainqueur en 2009 contre la France et Finaliste en 2010 (défaite face à la France) seront présent pour la quatrième année consécutive et opposés à des équipes talentueuses comme la Belgique, la Chine, La France, l’Allemagne, la Grande-Bretagne, l’Irlande et l’Espagne. Ces équipes se disputeront la victoire au meilleur de 7 matchs : 2 simples Homme et Femme, 1 double Homme, 1 double Femme et 1 double Mixte.

L’équipe des USA

Jarmere Jenkins (Virginia), un étudiant de troisième année natif de College Park – Ga, a été nommé au championnat NCAA All-American par équipe après avoir aidé son équipe des « Cavaliers » a atteindre la finale Homme.

Daniel Nguyen (USC), un étudiant de quatrième année natif de Oxnard – Calif, a gagné le match décisif pour les « Trojans » pour leur seconde victoire consécutive du Championnat NCAA 2011.

Wil Spencer (Georgia), un étudiant de quatrième année natif de Ponce de Leon – Fla, a atteint la Finale du All-American Championship NCAA 2011 et est n°6 au ranking ITA Division 1.

Beatrice Capra (Duke), étudiante en première année native d’Ellicott City – Md, a atteint le troisième tour de l’US Open 2010 après avoir battu       Aranave Rezai N°20 WTA au second tour. Elle est le n°1 des étudiantes de première année au ranking de l’ITA – Division 1.

Jacqueline Cako (Arizona State), étudiante de deuxième année native de Bier – Wash, a atteint la Finale ITA du Championnat All-American – Riviera. Elle est actuellement n°11 au ranking de l’ITA – Division 1.

Lauren Embree (Florida), une étudiante de troisième année native de Marco Island – Fla, a gagné le match décisif pour l’Université de Florida du championnat NCAA 2011.Elle est n°5 au ranking de l’ITA – Division 1 en simple. Embree était un membre de l’équipe universitaire USTA  2011, et suivait un programme d’entraînement de haut niveau créé par l’USTA.

Pour la troisième année consécutive, l’équipe sera dirigée par le Caoch Greg Patton, l’entraîneur garçon de l’Université de Boise State  et par Mark GUILBEAU, l’entraîneur de l’équipe féminine de l’Université de Virginie qui vivra sont second Master’u. Les membres de l’équipe ont été sélectionnés par le Comité de Développement de l’USTA, les capitaines et l’équipe de l’ITA (l’Association de Tennis Universitaire Américaine).

USTA ANNOUNCES U.S. TEAM FOR MASTER’U BNP PARIBAS

Eight Nations to Compete in International Collegiate Team Competition in Rouen, France, December 8-11

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., November 17, 2011 — The USTA announced today the top American collegians selected to represent the United States in the sixth annual Master’U BNP Paribas, an international collegiate team competition held December 8-11 in Rouen, France. The event features eight teams composed of college and university players from around the world.

The U.S., which defeated France to win the 2009 title and then lost to France in the 2010 final, will be competing for the fourth consecutive year against a talented field that includes teams from Belgium, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland and Spain. The teams will compete in a best-of-seven format consisting of two men’s and two women’s singles matches, one men’s and one women’s doubles match, and one mixed doubles match.

Men: Jarmere Jenkins,Virginia; Daniel Nguyen, USC; Wil Spencer, Georgia.

Women: Beatrice Capra, Duke; Jacqueline Cako, Arizona State; Lauren Embree, Florida.

For the third consecutive year, the team will be coached by Greg Patton, the head coach of the Boise State University men’s tennis team, and Mark Guilbeau, the head women’s tennis coach at the University of Virginia, who will be coaching for the second straight year. Roster spots for the team were selected by a committee of USTA Player Development and coaches and staff from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Capra, a freshman from Ellicott City, Md., reached the third round at the 2010 US Open after upsetting then world No. 20 Aravane Rezai in the second round, and is the top-ranked freshman in the ITA Preseason Division I rankings. Cako, a sophomore from Brier, Wash., reached the final at the 2011 ITA/Riviera All-American Championships, and is No. 11 in the ITA Preseason Division I rankings. Embree, a junior from Marco Island, Fla., won the title-clinching match for Florida at the 2011 NCAA Championships and is No. 5 in the ITA Preseason Division I singles rankings. Embree was a member of the 2011 USTA Collegiate Team, an elite training program funded by the USTA to provide top American collegians with valuable exposure to the USTA Pro Circuit in a team-oriented environment.

Jenkins, a junior from College Park, Ga., was named to the 2011 NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team after helping lead the Cavaliers to its first-ever men’s final. Nguyen, a senior from Oxnard, Calif., won the title-clinching match for the Trojans for the second consecutive year at the 2011 NCAA Championships. Spencer, a senior from Ponce de Leon, Fla., reached the final at the 2011 ITA All-American Championships and is No. 6 in the ITA Preseason Division I rankings.

Si les USA reviendront, à Rouen, avec une très belle équipe pour reconquérir leur titre, l’arrivée d’une sélection espagnole toujours redoutable sur terre battue, la montée en puissance du tennis chinois, la régularité des résultats des étudiants anglais, belges et irlandais laissent entrevoir un tournoi très accroché cette année.

Pourtant un doute subsite encore. La participation de l’Allemagne reste encore en suspend en raison de nombreux forfaits de leurs meilleurs joueurs. La Suisse a été contacté pour reprendre sa place dans le tournoi.
